QUALIFICATIONS
Have and maintain a current license to practice nursing in at least one state in the United States.
Shall hold current certification or recertification from an approved national CRNA certifying body. Shall maintain certification and be recertified every 2 years by the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
Have and maintain current certification in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
Be a graduate of an approved Nurse Anesthesia training program.
Have experience in the delivery of and monitoring of all types of anesthesia utilized in the delivery of obstetrical anesthesia (general endotracheal, subarachnoid block and epidural).
Have current experience; at least 12 months within the last 24 months providing epidural analgesia (labor epidurals).

QUALIFICATIONS.
1.1 Certification. The nurse practitioner must have an approved and current Nurse Practitioner's license/certificate with the National Registry of Nurse Practitioners.
1.2 Knowledge of professional care theories, principles, practices, disease process and procedures.
1.3 Knowledge of a variety of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, the desired effects, side effects, and complications of their use as well as the accurate administration of the pharmacologic agent, including dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patients condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
1.4 Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
1.5 Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.
1.6 Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization. Effectively uses appropriate communication format in addressing professional issues.
1.7 Excellent written communication skills to perform accurate documentation, both written and electronic, of all activity in accordance with requirements.
1.8 Possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Course (NRC).
1.9 Shall have at least 18 months of experience within the last 24 months

Assesses, coordinates, facilitates and delivers care for infant to geriatric patients recovering from general, regional, and/or local anesthesia. Administers intravenous conscious sedation and recovers patients receiving conscious sedation for procedures as required.
Synthesizes and makes appropriate clinical decisions using a wide variety of data sources, specifically patient response, anesthesia and surgical report and, pre-operative progress notes.

Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS.
Knowledge. Knowledge is mandatory of operating room techniques and management.
Education. For entry into this specialty, Graduation from an accredited school of nursing acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF, is mandatory.
Training. Completion of an Operating Room (OR) Nursing Course is mandatory.
Experience. A minimum of 12 months of experience is mandatory in operating room assignments. Experience must include all phases of operating room technique and management such as preparing operating room units, preparing patients for surgery, and assisting medical officer during surgery; and conducting instrument and equipment sterilization procedures. NOTE: Time spent completing courses in operating room technique and management is creditable toward experience requirements.

Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development, and pathophysiology of disease processes specific to the obstetrical and gynecological population to include all ages of the spectrum from neonate to geriatrics.
Knowledge of a wide range of medical disorders to include sickle cell anemia, diabetes, sexually transmitted diseases, thyroid disorders, hypertension, and cardiac disease among others and their potential impact on perinatal outcomes, as well as broad knowledge of normal delivery variations, their complications and indicated therapeutic intervention required.
Knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment, to include desired effects, side effects, and complications/contraindications for their use. Demonstrate ability to administer pharmacologic agents and accurately compute dosage calculations as required. Knowledge of the administrative requirements for proper documentation of patient’s condition including disease progress, acknowledgement of teaching, and follow up care.
Knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry and automated medical records.
Ability to synthesize data from a variety of sources and make appropriate clinical decisions.
Knowledge/skill in setting up, operating and monitoring specialized medical equipment such as IV infusion pumps, cardiac monitoring devices, EKG units, oxygen analyzers, suction equipment, nebulizers, and other unit specific equipment.

Certification as a Lactation Consultant by a recognized certifying agency such as the International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is desired, but not required.
The HCW shall have provided a min. of three years lactation consultant services, with at least two years in the inpatient hospital setting.

QUALIFICATIONS.

Licensure. The licensed practical nurse shall have and maintain an active, valid, current, unrestricted license (with no limitations, stipulations or pending adverse actions) to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in a US jurisdiction.
Experience. The licensed practical nurse shall have provided LPN services in the specialty clinical service area for at least 12 months within the past 36 months.
The nurse must posses the following knowledge;
Knowledge of standard nursing care principles, procedures, and practices.
Knowledge and skill in cardiopulmonary resuscitation used to initiate resuscitation measures when necessary and assist medical team in providing support measure.
Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their expected beneficial effects, and potential side effects.
Ability to perform infection control procedures.
Knowledge of emergency medical procedures.
SPECIFIC TASKS. Duties shall include, but shall not necessarily be limited to, the following:
Serves as a practical nurse performing patient care and nursing administrative duties for outpatients in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
Performs a variety of diagnostic procedures; sets up procedure room and equipment; provides individualized patient teaching on a preventative healthcare and health maintenance.
Prepares and administers prescribed medications by oral, sublingual, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, topical, dermal and inhalation routes.
Prepares and positions patient for examinations and treatments.
Participates in in-services and continuing education programs.
Establishes and maintains good interpersonal relationships with co-workers, families, peers, and other health team members.
Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and stored at the end of each work shift. Ensure preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
The nurse shall provide patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.
The nurse shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and Air Force-approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health record.
